Dungeon Explorer: Warriors of Ancient Arts… “Ancient” is the Word Alright

dungeon-explorer.jpgUnfortunately, it’s not among the best RPG games for the DS. I must have been brought back to the GBA era or something while playing Dungeon Explorer: Warriors of Ancient Arts. This game surely feels like a Game Boy Advance game, not a Nintendo DS one. For starters, you won’t be using the DS’ stylus in this one.

This game has dungeons, lots of them. You will be spending a lot of time fighting monsters in dungeons, looking for quest items. The graphics is a throwback to the past. It’s kind of outdated for a Nintendo DS game.

You need to explore the maps in order to progress in the game. Some doors are unlocked once you destroyed the generators. Generators are circle things in the ground that spawns monsters. Don’t worry about the monsters for they are killed without breaking out a sweat.

dungeon-explorer-screenshot.JPGThe game lets you choose from three classes. You can either play as a hunter, warrior or mage. Hunters are long raged, warriors are melee and mages use magic. Little customization is used in the game. Whichever class you choose, the game posts no challenge at all. Monsters could be easily by killed. Bosses are not that hard to slay as well. Stack up with HP pots and you’ll likely be able to survive in this game.

One feature of the game is the ancient arts. One of the first things you’re tasked to do in the game is to go find a room where you’ll be assign a random school. Depending on the school, you’ll learn Arts. As to why the school has to be random is beyond me.

Dungeon Explorer: Warriors of Ancient Arts for the Nintendo DS is fun for a while but after some time the game becomes monotonous. It doesn’t offer anything new to keep the players from playing it more.
