Ignition Entertainment announced that it will be releasing Teenage Zombies: Invasion of the Alien Brain Thingys. In this game, teenage zombies become Earth’s reluctant heroes. READ: H-E-R-O-E-S, not the cannon fodder. See, as the planet is being rampaged by Alien Brain Thingys, humans are held helpless against the invaders. Due to the raucous of the attacks, three teenage zombies have risen from their graves. Instead of going after their usual human, the zombies go after the juicier pink brain creatures. How’s that for a twist?

As for its game play, Darren McGrath, Ignition’s VP of creative development has this to say. “Each of the zombies (Fins, Lefty and Half-Pipe) have unique attributes that are also accentuated through the use of power-ups within the game. The Player can move through each of the worlds with any of the three characters but as obstacles or enemies appear (and they certainly will), it’s important to use the best zombie for the task at hand. Very quickly the Player learns this tactic and swapping becomes second nature.”

Basically, Teenage Zombies is a side-scrolling, puzzle game wherein you switch between three characters to make it through the levels. This description makes me think about a classic video game. Hmmm… what was that again? Ah, Lost Vikings. The game’s press release states that “Teenage Zombies is a uniquely humorous and satirical take on comics and retro sci-fi.” This game looks promising. I’m biased with zombies. I think it’s refreshing to finally have a game that lets you play as a zombie, and not shooting at them.

Teenage Zombies: Invasion of the Alien Brain Thingys is coming to North America and Europe exclusively for the Nintendo DS.
