Rock Band is scheduled to debut in the Wii this June. Rock star wannabes would have to fork out $169.99 for the game package. The package contains the game disc, a wireless guitar, drum set and a microphone.

There will be 63 songs in the final set list with five songs exclusive for Wii version only. The Wii-exclusive songs are:

  • Dirty Little Secret - The All-American Rejects
  • Don’t Look Back in Anger – Oasis
  • Roam - The B-52’s
  • Rockaway Beach - The Ramones
  • Roxanne - The Police

The downside is that Rock Band for Wii will not have any downloadable content. Harmonix’s Rob Kay, the lead designer of Rock Band (Microsoft Xbox 360, Sony PlayStation 3,Nintendo Wii), has come out and said that they want Nintendo to release a hard drive so they can provide downloadable content for the Wii version of the game.

Nintendo adamantly won’t give in to the demands of the developers as they feel that there is no need for a Wii hard drive.

Another thing I don’t like about this version is that the wiimote is not compatible with any of the instruments. The developers should have taken advantage of this wii feature instead of directly porting the PS2 version to the Wii.

Now should I pay $170 for Rock Band for Wii?
