Nintendo Sales Forecast Raises as Gamers Speculate the Force behind Its Success

Nintendo announced that it has raised its full year profit and sales forecasts. Its profits are 23% higher than last year’s numbers. The company has earlier predicted an increase of only 9%. The increase is mainly due to the strong showing of the Wii and DS consoles outside Japan.
In related news, the DS is still the number portable gaming console in Japan, beating Sony’s PSP for the third straight week. The DS is the choice for most casual gamers which is why it is experiencing a surge in its sales.
As for the Wii, the Wii Fit, Madden and even the latest Mario Super Sluggers might have created an impact in the sales of the console. There are already orders not only for the coming holiday season, but also for post-holiday restocking as well.
Then there’s news that an outside Force will be coming to the Wii soon. Rumors have it that Lucas Art is looking to make a light saber game that will utilize the Wii Motion Plus accessory. The Wii Remote would be the best controller for a light saber. Star Wars fans would surely get a Wii. No official word on this game though.
