Who would have thought ten years ago that people would appreciate food games? One type of casual games, food preparation games have already been a staple for most Wii and DS consoles. Cooking Mama is responsible for this trend for the Nintendo consoles. The developers thought that if some gamers want to fish, play soccer, brawl with others, then there’s a fraction of gamers out there that wants to cook. And they were right.

Last summer brought us the straight from TV title, Hell’s Kitchen. Every fan of the show must have bought a copy for their Wii and DS that it enjoyed success in terms of sales numbers. Another cooking show that’s going to have its own game is Iron Chef. Iron Chef America: Supreme Cuisine will be released for the Wii. More or less it will be going after Hell’s Kitchen’s gamers.

Food games brought in a lot of new “gamers” into the gaming scene. It goes to show that today’s gamers are very much diverse and there’s no telling what they want next. Food games might be hot oday but who knows how long they would last.
