Mario is stepping on the North American plate and hoping for a Wii homerun with Super Sluggers. This Wii title was first released in Japan last June and was received warmly by Japanese gamers. Mario Super Sluggers was released this week in the North America market while Australian gamers can get it this September.

This baseball title for the Wii will have 4 game modes. The Exhibition mode lets players choose their captains and players. You can choose how many innings, stadium and the time of play, whether night or day. The batting order would be determined via toss coin.

Mario Super SluggersIn the single player Challenge mode, players will play as Mario and will face various challenges to unlock other characters and stadiums. Then there’s the Toy Field mode where up to four players can compete in hitting and fielding challenges. Finally, there’s the Practice mode where players can practice their skills in batting, fielding, and base running.

To commemorate the release of Mario Super Sluggers, Nintendo placed several online trading cards in various web sites. I found one trading card at Nick.com. Users can collect them in a special album site. The more card you collect, the more secrets and bonuses you unlock in game.

Mario Super Sluggers is a decent baseball game for the Wii. For more information about the game, visit the Mario Super Sluggers web site.
