BioWare is set to port to the Nintendo DS their games such as Mass Effect, Jade Empire, and Dragon Age. The developers have big plans for the Mass Effect franchise. Not only are they considering a DS version of the game but they are working on the sequel as well.

My only concern with Mass Effect for the DS is to how its game play would translate into the portable console. I think that a direct port of the Xbox and PC version is impossible. Maybe a couple tweaks of its combat system would be made.

Before EA bought BioWare, they have already begun on the Sonic Chronicles: the Dark Brotherhood for the DS which is set to be launched on the 26^th of September. Sonic Chronicles will be the company’s launch pad for their future DS games.

It isn’t only in the DS that the BioWare is branching out to. There are talks that they are also eying the PSP and Wii markets. This is good news for the hardcore RPG gamers. With the company’s entry into the Nintendo market, will we be seeing a Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic title on a Nintendo console in the future?
