Activision, the maker of Guitar Hero Franchise, has announced that it like be bringing downloadable content to the Wii version of Guitar Hero World Tour. DLC is unheard of when it comes to the Wii. The reason for this is Wii’s lack of a hard drive.

The Wii only has 512MB of internal storage for saving game content. This is not sufficient for downloadable contents. It does support SD cards for storage but games and other contents could not be played from it.

I think it’s high time for Nintendo to have a firmware upgrade to let the Wii play content straight from the SD card. Nintendo should listen to third party publishers and gamers alike who are yearning for more storage capacity.

Well, Activision should be commended for pushing for DLC for the Wii but as to how they are going to do it, it’s all up to speculations. Still, their announcement one upped Harmonix’s own announcement of releasing a disc for its Rock Band for Wii.
