A Nintendo Trip to Rubik’s World

rubik’s cube for dummiesEveryone has held a Rubik’s Cube in their lifetime. Maybe not everyone has solved it but at least tried at least once. At present, there’s a renewed interest in the cube. It can be seen everywhere these days. And now it’s coming to the Wii and DS via Rubik’s World.

If you think that Rubik’s World is just virtual cube that you need to solve with the use of the Wiimote or DS stylus then you’re wrong.

Two Tribes (the game developer) creative director Collin van Ginkel said:

“That’s why it’s called Rubik’s World. We basically take apart the Rubik’s Cube-which consists of 27 separate cubes-and we make those little cubes the stars of the game.”

Rubik’s World is quite interesting. It is a collection of easy-to-play puzzle games that will increase in difficulty as the player progress into this 3D world. The game will test the players’ brainpower by constructing 3D shapes and objects, and navigating through mazes.

The DS version will allow players to create their own tunes that will be used in the game. Sound can also be recorded using the microphone. The stylus will be used as the main input device of the game. Multiplayer function is still in the drawing boards as of this moment.

As for the Wii version, you can play the game by using only the Wiimote but you can get more precise control with the use of the nunchuk. In this version, up to 4 players can play the game simultaneously.

Rubik’s World tries to ride on the cube’s bandwagon by having the name Rubik in the title but I don’t think this game is even relevant to the Rubik’s cube. What do you think?
