    Guitar Hero on Tour Video

This is a video review of Guitar Hero on Tour by IGN. They got to play with it three weeks before it officially launches. IGN hire me please!

Judging by the video, Guitar Hero on Tour’s gameplay is exceptionally good. Plus, it is compatible with the old DS version as well.

I know I’ve written about Guitar Hero on Tour before but I think this game is worth every space it occupies. I’ve never been this excited for a game launch since Super Mario 3 and World of Warcraft.

Are you getting Guitar Hero on Tour for the DS?

My Life as a King, My Fantasy Fulfilled

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles My Life as a KingEver wonder how it would be like to rule your own kingdom and live like a king? Well, Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a King lets you feel how it’s like. It’s not your typical Final Fantasy game and is available for Wiiware.

Unlike the other Final Fantasy titles, My Life as a King is not a RPG instead it’s a management/city-building game. Players are the kings in the game and everyone is under his rule. Rewards, gold or resources, depends on who you choose to pick to do certain tasks.

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Ring of Fates – Your Final Fantasy as It Should Be

Ring of FatesFinal Fantasy is such a successful franchise that it’s not a surprise that every gamer has played a Final Fantasy game in his lifetime. Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Ring of Fates for the Nintendo DS is a welcome addition to your game catalog.

With its simple hack-and-slash gameplay, Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Ring of Fates is an excellent RPG/dungeon crawler. There are two game modes available for you. In the Story Mode, you get to play as Yuri. With a gripping storyline, you’ll surely be spending a lot of time in this mode.

But when you’re friends are with you, you can play in the Multiplayer mode. Up to 4 players can join up in a single game. There are quests available for your group. Well this is a great feature of the game but there are issues of frame rates while in this mode.

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles’ graphics are impressive. Square Enix does a great job 3D rendering the game. Getting lost in this game is the last thing that can happen to you. It features a mini-map of the room you’re currently in.

I don’t want to sound like a fanboy but Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Ring of Fates is by far the best RPG I’ve played on the Nintendo DS. Except for the delay issues during multiplayer play, I have nothing bad to say about this game. Well don’t take me word for it, try it out yourself.

Brain Assist for Nintendo DS: a pale offshoot of Brain Age

Brain Assist BoxartWelcome to Right Brain Research Institute. Brain Assist is said to help exercise the right side of our brains. Just minutes into the game, I got bored and before I knew it, I was asleep. I wish I just got myself the Nintendo DS Brain Age pack.

How can our brains exercise if we get bored by the process? Brain Assist is another title in the ever growing list of brain games. It’s just like the other games in its genre. Brain Assist doesn’t bring anything new in the field.

There is a single game mode wherein you can choose from the 10 mini-games. In this mode you can practice each mini-game and beat your own scores, which by the way is tracked by the game. The objective of the mini-games is to solve as much puzzles in the given time limit.

            Zoo Tycoon DS: Problems Unsolved

Zoo Tycoon 2 BoxartZoos are fun. They bring back good childhood memories. With that said, a zoo simulation should be enjoyable, right? Well those who played the first Zoo Tycoon for the Nintendo DS might say otherwise. Blue Fang Games, the developer, wants a second chance at it and they delivered. Definitely, Zoo Tycoon 2 is a big improvement from the first one. However, Zoo Tycoon for DS still leaves many of the earlier problems unsolved.

The graphics were given a makeover. You can actually distinguish the animals in Zoo Tycoon 2. Plus, they are more animated than the first. Don’t get your hopes up yet. That’s the only improvement of the game, graphics-wise. It still has the bland, boring feel of the first installation.

Bubbling Up for Bubble Bobble Double Shot

Bubble bobble double shot box artWhat are the criteria for a game to garner a sequel? Well the makers of the unremarkable Bubble Bobble Revolution think that it deserves to have a second, make that a double shot. They released Bubble Bobble Double Shot for the Nintendo DS this month for the US market.

Retro gamers disappointed with the first Bubble Bobble game for the DS are in for a treat. Bob and Bub are back and they’re being reinforced by their cousin Bubu. Now here’s the twist. Instead of playing as either of the three, you get to control all of them at the same time. During the game, you switch from Bob, Bub or Bubu depending on what color the star floating around a monster will be. Sounds easy, does it? Well, at first it is but as you progress in the game, and more monsters coming towards you, switching can be a source of frustration.

Dungeon Explorer: Warriors of Ancient Arts… “Ancient” is the Word Alright

dungeon-explorer.jpgUnfortunately, it’s not among the best RPG games for the DS. I must have been brought back to the GBA era or something while playing Dungeon Explorer: Warriors of Ancient Arts. This game surely feels like a Game Boy Advance game, not a Nintendo DS one. For starters, you won’t be using the DS’ stylus in this one.

This game has dungeons, lots of them. You will be spending a lot of time fighting monsters in dungeons, looking for quest items. The graphics is a throwback to the past. It’s kind of outdated for a Nintendo DS game.

Barnyard Blast: Swine of the Night, a Sty-lized Review

barnyard-blast-2.jpgBarnyard Blast: Swine of the Night for the Nintendo DS started from a good idea. The game’s FAQ states, “Barnyard Blast is an upcoming 2D action shooting game for the Nintendo DS. It is a parodic tribute to famous old-school horror titles. In Barnyard Blast, you control Robert Belmart, the Swine of the Night. Through 6 levels, you kill zombies, exterminate monsters, slash ghouls, and more.

Just like some good ideas, Barnyard Blast: Swine of the Night lacked in the execution department. This is the developer’s first game and it shows. They made a supposed fun filled game into a nightmare. This game is too difficult for the casual gamer but hardcore gamers can enjoy the challenge it imposes. As for replay value, I don’t see any of it here.

DS Game - Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney Guilty!

apollo-justice.jpgThe verdict is in. Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney is guilty of being the cause of addiction amongst its players. This Nintendo DS game is the leading cause of sleeplessness these past days. Don’t be alarmed if years from now there will be an influx in the number of lawyers.

Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney is essentially the fourth game of the Ace Attorney series. The first 3 Ace Attorney games featured Phoenix Wright as the protagonist. If you’re a Phoenix Wright fan, then you’re in for a treat. Apollo Justice didn’t sway that much from the winning formula. That means that this game still feels and plays like the previous Ace Attorney games. The humor is still there. Plus, Phoenix Wright plays a vital part in the game’s storyline.
