FireNes, a way to play NES games in your Firefox

firenes.pngToday’s my birthday and I’m feeling kind of nostalgic. I miss the old NES games I use to play when I was a kid, Contra, Super Mario Series, and Gradius to name a few.

Then I stumble upon FireNes. This is an add-on for the Firefox browser that allows you to play 2,000+ NES games. You can download the FireNes installer from its site. Once installed, you can access FireNes from Firefox by going to Tools>FireNes.

It will open a sidebar with the games listed alphabetically. Choose a game by double clicking and a popup window will open. Controls are simple. All you need to press are the arrow keys for direction, Enter for start, Ctrl for select, Z for B and X for A.

Every game made for the NES is available. You most likely will find the game you wasted your time on in the past. I give the FireNes add-on two 1-up mushrooms.1up1up

FireNes requires Java and Firefox to run.

      Mega Wall Art

Do you have nothing better to do today? Then why not do something like this. Flickr user dergutemoritz has upload this set of photos documenting his Megaman pixel art.

      He described it as:

Classic NES Mega Man on my room’s wall, made of 7×7cm paper squares, about 2m in height.

I have always been a Megaman fan. This is a great concept. Maybe I’ll do it using Post-Its.

      More after the jump.
