Top 3 Scary Games to Play

I know that Halloween is still months away but I do enjoy a good scare from time to time. Here are my top three scary games to play on your Wii and DS.

Resident evil 4

#1 - Resident Evil 4 (Wii)

Set in a Spanish village, you’re task is to retrieve the president’s kidnapped daughter. The catch: the village is crawling with mean-looking zombies. For me, Resident Evil 4 is the best survival horror game ever released for the Wii.

I’m sure you’ve already played this game on the GameCube or PS2, but that’s no excuse not to play this on your Wii. Gameplay in the Wii is better than the previous versions of this game due to the Wiimote, giving you better control. There are also lots of heart-stopping scenes in this one.

The only downside is that there is no Wii exclusive content. Just the same, Resident Evil 4 is the game that can scare your wits off you. It’s no surprise that Capcom has already sold over a million copies of this game.

manhunt 2

#2 - Manhunt 2 (Wii)

Manhunt 2 is scary in the violent and sadistic sense. This is the reason why this game is banned in the UK. If you enjoy gory movies like Hostel, Captivity and Vacancy then you’ll surely enjoy Manhunt 2.

Actually this sequel is less grisly than the original Manhunt, but this version still has its fair share of gore, sex and adult language. You still maim and brutalize your victims in a very vicious fashion.

The Wii version of Manhunt 2 is somewhat sanitized. When you play the PS2 version, the red filter when you execute someone is less blurry and it blinks on and off so that you can see the gruesomeness of the death.

dementium

#3 - Dementium: The Ward (DS)

I want to include Dementium in this list. This game is the bastard son of Doom and Silent Hill. Although it’s a handheld game, playing it can give you the occasional goose bumps.

To maximize your experience while playing Dementium, I suggest that you play it with earphones on. The soundtrack adds to the feeling of desperation and isolation plus background noises like creepy children singing and back-masked phrases heightens the gaming experience.

What I don’t like about this game is that it is too short and, to be honest, it has no replay value at all. But playing it once is more than enough.

So here’s my list of scary games to play. If ever you have a game in mind that should be included in this list, feel free to share it with us.

F.E.A.R. has never been ported to any Nintendo console that’s why I didn’t include it but yes, it is scary. I played the PS3 version.
