FireNes, a way to play NES games in your Firefox

Today’s my birthday and I’m feeling kind of nostalgic. I miss the old NES games I use to play when I was a kid, Contra, Super Mario Series, and Gradius to name a few.
Then I stumble upon FireNes. This is an add-on for the Firefox browser that allows you to play 2,000+ NES games. You can download the FireNes installer from its site. Once installed, you can access FireNes from Firefox by going to Tools>FireNes.
It will open a sidebar with the games listed alphabetically. Choose a game by double clicking and a popup window will open. Controls are simple. All you need to press are the arrow keys for direction, Enter for start, Ctrl for select, Z for B and X for A.
Every game made for the NES is available. You most likely will find the game you wasted your time on in the past. I give the FireNes add-on two 1-up mushrooms.![]()

FireNes requires Java and Firefox to run.

Well, all I can say is that this add-on is darn awesome. Only beef I have with it is that you cannot remap the controls… Oh well, maybe we’ll see that in a future release.. That or support for a game controller and/or cheats (while I dont really like using cheats myself it is a valid complaint I’ve heard from others using this add-on)
kudos to the writer of this add-on! Keep up the awesome work!!
Its ok but some of my favorites don’t work. I give it a 6 out of 10.

Yup i wish that in future versions, we can remap the controls.
There definitely needs to be some way to remap controls. I completely agree. My right arrow key stopped working when i spilled beer on my keyboard…
