2nd hand Nintendo Games has the Most Resale Value

A study made by Video Game Price Charts shows that games published by Nintendo maintain their value much longer than games from other publishers. The research compared the various resale prices of secondhand games sold in 2008.

Nintendo games have an average decrease of 12.9% from its original retail price. Some Nintendo games would even surpass their MSRP by up to 16% when sold used. Some of the titles in this category include Wii Fit, Mario Kart Wii, Rock Band 2 bundle and Rapala Fishing Frenzy.

When comparing games according to gaming consoles, it is found out that Wii and DS games would retain their retail values better than any other consoles. Secondhand Wii and DS games would have a decrease of their MSRP by around 25%.

VGPC has named several factors regarding this phenomenon, which includes game quality, appeal and replay value. They say that casual games are more likely to be sold because people tend to play with them longer. Unlike hardcore games that are resold in order for the player to buy a newer game.

        Jo Koy’s Wii Experience

You know something has gone mainstream when it becomes part of a stand up comedian’s routine. This is what Nintendo Wii Sports has become. It has integrated itself into pop culture. Even old people enjoy a game of bowling or two. Some even compete with their children to see who gets the highest score.

Here’s video of Jo Koy and his experience with Wii Sports. Jo Koy is a rising stand-up comedian. I laughed hard at this.

Wii Sports Outsells Super Mario Bros.

Nintendo has reasons to celebrate the coming of 2009 because its Wii Sports has officially surpassed Super Mario Bros in terms of total sales. To date, Wii Sports has sold over 40 million units and it includes special bundles of the game.

Nintendo is optimistic that Wii Sports will reach 50 million mark in years to come. Wii Sports has sold 40.52 million copies. Coming in second place is Super Mario Bros for the SNES, which has sold 40.42 million copies. Pokemon Red/Green/Blue for the Gameboy is third at 31.38 million units sold.

Most games in the top selling list are for Nintendo consoles, such as the Wii, SNES, DS, and the Gameboy. This goes to show that Nintendo is truly the leader when it comes to gaming consoles. Only GTA: San Andres is included in the list at number 15. Hopefully 2009 will be a good year for Nintendo and gamers as well.

            Feature Mod: Nintendo Sixtyfree Lite-R

Benheck forums user SifuF has made a N64 portable that he calls Nintendo Sixtyfree Lite-R. It features Dual 3D sticks, D-Pad, L Button, expansion pack and a headphone socket. SifuF has trimmed the original N64 console into half its size and has made it portable with its own LCD monitor. This is probably the best N64 mod I’ve seen so far.

High Times for the DS in 2009

Everyone’s waiting for the Gran Theft Auto version coming to the DS this year. Chinatown Wars is expected to be on top of the charts once it is released. But there are still lots to look forward to this year if you’re an avid DS gamer. Here are my top picks for 2009.

RPGs will rule the Nintendo DS on 2009. Sega will be releasing Infinite Space, which is a sci-fi game based in space where players control and build spaceships. Then they’ll also be coming out with 7th Dragon. This DS exclusive game will pit the player against various dragons in the quest to save the world.

Square Enix will be launching two RPGS that are sequels of their successful franchises. One is Crystal Chronicles: Echoes in Time, which is also available for the Wii. Then they will also be coming out with Dragon Quest XI.

Not to be left behind, Konami in 2009 will come out with Suikoden Tier Kreis but I think this is only for the Japanese market. Although they have announced that they’ll be releasing a new Mario and Luigi RPG.

These are just some titles that are buzzing around the gaming circuits. Expect to hear more from these titles and a lot more games once E3 comes.
